    Turning Plastic Bags into Speakers!

    October 14, 2019

If we consider our future, with all the plastic bags we’ve created, things look pretty bleak. But Gomi has arrived on the scene to give non-recyclable plastic waste a new life… as Bluetooth speakers! And they make us wonder: how could our “waste” actually be a useful resource?
As the world is slowly being forced to reckon with all the waste we are creating, plastic bags seem to be the most visible sign of our irresponsible past. There’s just so many of them and they’re going to be around for thousands of years unless we get creative!
So, what if instead of being sad about this, we began looking at the problem a bit differently? Isn’t anything a “resource” if there is a surplus of it and we can use in a new way?
When people have the courage to test their ideas and see—as Gomi did—it turns out that even plastic bags can be something worth reinvesting in.

“Innovation is taking two things that already exist and putting them together in a new way.” — Tom Freston

Since this article is publishing on the last day of our #ConspiracyofGoodness month all about litter, it seemed only fitting that we highlight the efforts of this company!
With their goal to stop plastic waste from taking a further toll on the planet—getting incinerated or lost in a landfill—Gomi Designs has created a way to make use of it in the tech world!

So, how exactly does a plastic bag turn into a speaker?

This great short video from Tech Insider gives us a look into the innovative ways of Gomi!
